Films, videos and slides of road users and road signs.
Previous learning:
The students can define mention examples of road users.
Learning Activities:
Step 1 – Teacher reviews previous lesson, and states learning objectives – including study questions.

Step 2 – Lesson introduction – students research Safety Guidelines. Teacher leads class discussion based on pictures, films and slides of road users and traffic situations.

Safety guidelines are regulations or rules that help to prevent people from risk of injury, danger or death.
We need to obey safety rules in order to avoid getting involved in accidents which can lead to injuries or death.

Step 3 –Teacher guides the students in a class discussion on the definition of terms based on the topic

Definitions:
1.       Pedestrian is a person travelling on foot on or near a roadway.
2.       A cyclist is a person riding a bicycle along a roadway.
3.       A motorcyclist is a person riding a motorcycle along a roadway.
4.       A driver is a person who drives a motorized vehicle such as a car, bus or lorry.
Step 4 – Teacher and Students research into safety rules for pedestrians

Safety Rules for Pedestrians:
  • Wear bright/light coloured clothing and reflective materials. Always walk on the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic.
  • Stay sober; walking while impaired increases your chance of being struck.
  • Don't assume vehicles will stop. Make eye contact with drivers; don't just look at the vehicle. If a driver is on a cell phone, he or she may not be paying enough attention to drive safely.
  • Don't rely solely on pedestrian signals. Look before you cross the road.
  • Be alert to engine noise or backup lights on cars when in parking lots and near on-street parking spaces.

Step 4 -  Teacher gives the students class exercise
Step 5 – Teacher summarizes and evaluates lesson.
